In my case, tethering was enabled. In fact, my earlier "data connection refused" problems were because they had enabled tethering without putting in the EVDO code. The handheld is showing 1XEV, just not getting the higher speed while tethered (but happy to have any tethering at all!)

BTW-if Monkeygrass hasn't left the community yet--I didn't respond to the request about account info because I am on a corporate account and can't access the info--others on this board may have been in the same position.
