I am new to these forums so I appreciate any help with my issue.

I have recently acquired a Blackberry Pearl 8100 as a spare phone and want to upgrade its OS from 4.2 to 4.5. Everything on the phone works fine, including data transfer from USB to PC. I have tried using the BB Desktop Software for update as well as installing the OS to PC manually, removing 'Vendor.xml' from the directory and opening the 'Loader.exe' but result with the same problem. Whenever the process tries to 'Connect to Device ROM' the phone ends up in a reboot cycle until the installer returns an unspecified error.

The phone then boots up normally, therefore the problem cannot be a bricked phone?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks
