I have 8700c with same SW version and mine transfer fine on my Z4 with 2007 BMW Blutooth install. Works fine. You can set up your BB to transfer "all" contacts or just "Hotlist" (call log). I originally had "All" but switched to just call log as I have nearly 1000 contacts and got tired of scrolling. Besides, you'll find you use the Voice commands more often than the phonebook.
Also FYI:
- Latest generation BMW Bluetooth requires SW version 4.1 as you have
- Phonebook stores 1000 contacts
- Voice command stores 50 contacts
