Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the messages are gone, really gone, unless you backed up the BlackBerry while the messages were there. BBM is peer to peer, so I can't even imagine the messages being stored anywhere. Still, though it is perhaps possible, for your purposes they would be the same as gone.
