well said indeed.
as a follow up I would say that either solution is really just a temporary solution. Over time both diplomatic resolutions & military resolutions crumble and the situation always requires follow up measures. Look through history and see if you can find long-standing peace brought by war or diplomacy, it doesn't exist.
