You will have to use the BB desktop software to delete all email messages. RIM told me this is the only way to fix the problem. This has happened twice to one user where I work. This can be done by going into Backup and Restore, go into Advanced, highlight "Messages" on the right hand side and then click on clear on the bottom of the window. This will clear all email on the device.
