The 9700 screen is often touted as being better than the 9000. The 9000 screen is no slouch.

Also, the 9000 does not have the hotspots that I've seen on the 9700 screen. When you reboot and the orange ATT screen comes up, the color is smooth and 100% constant across the entire screen on the 9000. On the 9700 you can see four or five faint wide strips the start at the top and run down the screen--it's not a smooth in it lumination.
