I am using a personal HTC EVO (Android 2.2) and a BB 9330 (OS 6) for work.

You can give Android a try, you may like it. Widgets are nice, typing takes a little getting used to, the app selection is nice, web browsing is phenomenal, but battery life is horrendous, and that is putting it nicely.

About swapping SIM cards, I don't believe it will add an additional data plan, it would most likely switch from a BB data plan to the Generic data plan (or Droid plan if it exists). Someone here will surely confirm this, if it is indeed the case.
