Wife - 8310 unlocked and will almost definitely upgrade to a 9700 in the next month
Me - 8900

We BBM relatively often, I use google maps, facebook, gmail, slingplayer, and only infrequently use internet.

Will the mytouch slide disappoint me?

Is there an instant messenger app that will work to connect the 9700 with the MTslide?

I could get the slide from walmart for $140 with a contract extension, I'm on month 12 of a 2 year contract. Or would that be wicked dumb, because in another year there will be phones that are amazing and way better than current ones?
