I am an on-call pilot. I leave my phone next to my bed nightly. The green light is annoying and wayyyyy to blinky to tell me what I already know. I have turned those lights off on every phone that I have owned. (However, the light CAN be very useful to someone who has service that is questionable such as in a concrete building etc.)
