You can unlock at use with US GSM Carriers.
Whilst it is true that you cannot unlock and use it with Verizon as they are CDMA, you can unlock and use the phone with one of the US carriers that use GSM. AT&T and T-Mobile are the national carriers that use GSM and there might be some regional carriers in your area that also use it.
