unrEVOked is an easy way to get SU powers but it won't let you delete the Sprint bloatware or flash custom ROM's... (there is a way to remove apps but they come right back after any reboot of the device)
A better, but more complicated method to root, is to use Toast... It will allow you to remove all the Sprint bloatware, and it will not come back.... You can also flash 2.2 or any custom ROM you choose whereas unrEVOked will not allow it..
