What I did...and it may not work for everyone (Device Model and Operating Systems vary) was download 9700 OS 5.0.0.415 and extract it to my PC. I then copied the following files from the 9700/5.0.0.415 Java directory to my device's current installed OS Java directory:

net_rim_bbgroup_calendar.cod
net_rim_bbgroup_database.cod
net_rim_bbgroup_inbox.cod
net_rim_bbgroup_lists.cod
net_rim_bbgroup_messaging.cod
net_rim_bbgroup_photos.cod
net_rim_qm_api.cod
net_rim_qm_lib_barcode.cod
net_rim_qm_peer.cod
net_rim_qm_peer_lib.cod
net_rim_qm_peer_resource_en.cod

I then opened up the BlackBerry.alx file located in my current OS directory, scrolled to the section "net.rim.java.blackberrymessenger" and changed the version to "5.0.0.52". I then connected my device, ran apploader.exe and removed BlackBerry Messenger. After the device rebooted, I ran apploader.exe and installed BlackBerry Messenger. Upon reboot, I had BlackBerry Messenger 5.0.0.52 installed and running.
