I suspect it has to do with the integration of the various contact sources.

I have many issues with contacts, especially in regards to how BlackBerry 10 handles multiple entries (one name) with fb, linkedin, G+, add numbers and an email address or two and it just turns into a guessing game. You can unlink or delete 'junk' contacts or entries without valid contact information, but the next time you sync any of those services, the contacts return.

Since sms seems to be a big concern, you could add [sms] to the contacts you message the most. It may make it easier when you re faced with a long possible list of people you may be trying to message.

I hope BB can fix some of these issues in the coming updates. While not a deal breaker for me by any means, it does get rather annoying.
