And no, going to firewall > options does NOT give you the option to disable it.

Many applications simply don't work as they can't get past the device firewall, this is very annoying, especially since I even have the IPPP servicebookson my device :(
When an application makes an outbound request you don't get a notification about it?

That sounds like something even weirder at play then. I can disable the Firewall on my 7290 and 7100t IIRC, I usually like to know when things are phoning-home, however.

Is this perhaps an issue with your IT policy?
