You can
not install Desktop Manager v4.1 and Device Manager 4.2 SP1 at the same time. The technical reason you can not install them both at the same time is because they are packaged as MSI installs. When you install Device Manager 4.2 SP1 it checks for, and detects, Desktop Manager 4.2 as a previous version and proceeds with the upgrade.
Are you experiencing a particular problem that you feel you need the newer version of Device Manager? Just because the version is higher does not mean its better and it
must be installed.
