Trouble shoot your connection to the computer. Make sure you are using a USB connection on the computer, and not a hub, keyboard or monitor, etc. If you have another USB cable, try that. Make sure the computer isn't shutting down the USB port for power saving.

Other than that, the procedure you are following can be tricky. You might have to repeat it several times to get the timing right.
