I would make sure you download and install the latest version of Desktop Manager.
Also, if you don't use Mass Storage on the Blackberry, turn it to Prompt instead of always on. May help with the disconnect problem.

I agree. I use my 8330 with windows vista, windows 7, and windows XP, never had any problems.
When I bought my 8330, I read many threads about bad USB ports, so I bought a
charging dock to reduce wear and tear on my USB port.
