Yes, actually it does matter. lol
I've had the exact same apps on my Bold since getting it. Actually I've even installed a few more.
.162 never gave me more than 19.2 MB free
.18x versions gave me around 25MB free
.23x versions gave me around 35MB free
and now on .247 - my app memory hasn't fallen to less than 43.6MB free
And my battery life (considering I use my phone about the same everyday), has improved greatly over the course of OS upgrades.
That was a pretty stupid statement if you ask me.
If OS upgrades didn't do anything, why would RIM bother releasing them and why would so many people even bother to download them?
PS: I have my phone memory cleaner set to clear memory and logs whenever I holster my phone or whenever it is idle for longer than 5 minutes, along with clearing out my SMS, e-mails etc on a daily basis.
