In many threads on this forum and others, what I've found is that how SMS works is dependent on the carrier, not the device.

I'm on AT&T, and can compose a 6 page, 160 character per page text message. When I compose a text message, the top of the screen indicates the "page" as "x of 6" as well as how many characters are on the current page.

The number of characters per page will also be dependant on the coding - 7 Bit or "USC2" which is two 8 bit bytes per character, which then limits the length of a page to 70 characters. The limit on an SMS message is 1120 Bits which is either 160 characters with 7 bits per character coding, or 70 characters with 16 bits per character USC2 coding.
