I never quite understood why RIM insisted on removing the old versions. The U.S. carriers websites used to have them, but those boneheads forced them to take everything down.

Unfortunately all the Gmail solutions (including RIM's own) are completely terrible.

I struggled for years until I realized that all my gmailing just needs to happen on another phone.

Well, I spoke too soon. Blackberry deleted all of my SMS messages older than 30 days (what a STUPID default setting), and now I need to restore the old backup again.

It worked, it worked, it worked. I don't know how, but it worked (but probably by deleting the Desktop SYNC service book and undeleting it again). Good night.
