It is/was an app that controls the LEDs to give a much better (lasting) alert when you receive an email/SMS, etc.

Google "BBAlerts"

Yes, there are a few other similar apps available,...

Thanks, but it's the 8-character device PIN I need to change, not the security PIN/password.

Well either that or work out how to reverse-engineer a new BBAlerts registration key from the new PIN. ...
