Will a MSDE databse restore to SQL 2000 normally?

Try installing the latest exchange service pack...

Try installing the latest exchange service pack on the BES server, it will update the cdo and the mapi profiles.

Reboot the bes afterwards, this fixed that problem for us.

I believe we ran into this same issue, by default MSDE does not set a password (i have no idea why) and it wont even let you upgrade without a password set.

Wireless Sync has nothing to do with the desktop.

I believe our desktop techs just remove it with add/remove programs. You may need to enterprise activate it again afterwards, i'm not sure.
