I agree. I want to be able to see the quality picture. Its not worth is to set mine that low to save battery but I do set my backlight timeout at 10 seconds to help.

If dust is under the screen, the only way to clean is by taking it apart in which I don't recommend and can void your warranty. If you put your Pearl in your pocket, I would recommend stopping.
