There was indeed a vendor.xml file lurking in my user/appdata/roaming/rim folder. I deleted it and it's currently installing.

I just tried again and I get a message 'no action required' on the loader screen. It has obviously not detected the new updated os.

After unpacking the downloaded file almost all the files are dated 26/05/11 16.34. Does that make sense?

How do you clear the browser history?

In the browser Options, at the bottom I ticked files, cookies and cache and Clear Now. The History then showed Empty. I then closed the browser and reopened....

The 3g only would result in having no reception for most of the time. The 2g or 3g should resolve that but as I said it maintains a very weak 3g over a strong 2g so many of my calls are cutting off...

I find that when my 9900 is set to 2g or 3g it will only switch from 3 to 2 if 3 disappears and not during a call. Thus if 3 provides a weak signal it'll be a bad line rather than switch...

I can assure you there is a valid email in the To field, especially as it is a reply. It is an email and it has the green draft icon yet Send is nowhere to be found.
