The problem is specifically with ver 5.0.0.822. Any other version of 5 will fix the problem! I suggest .681 or the newer .900 instead of having to revert all the way back to v4

.822 is not recommended, go with prior release .681

Known issue with .822 release. With something as critical and basic as your ringer and alerts not working, this release is not recommended. I recommend you load the prior release .681 instead.

While far from perfect, so far this is the best 5.x release I have used on my 9000. No voice jitter like with earlier versions, no issues with ringers going silent like .822. I am still testing it...
