may be your users are getting email by Rescan. Check MAGT file and look for "rescan".

Any firewall between your BES and exchange that could block UDP requests????

So far the replies looks great and more tilted towards the SQL stuff. I would also look at my SQL Server hardware and monitor the following main components to see if one of those are the bottlenecks....

BES uses MAPI (RPC) to communicate with Exchange, and RPC traffic does not respond well to latency issues. It is the latency that is the problem and not just speed.

Dynamic IP should not be a problem. Make sure your BES Server has a an outgoing connection on port 3101. You do not need any incoming holes in your firewall for BES to work.

Any CDO related errors in MAGT Log? Do you see calhelper.exe in the processes list?
