How do I delete a "missed call" icon

I missed a call about a week ago and called the individual back by pressing the missed call. But the icon is still on my background screen. How do I get rid of it?

Is there a trick in how to insert the microSD card and locking the holder? My card seems to be a bit bulky and the lock/unlock cover cannot lock in place.
