yeah Kris i wondered the same thing. I hate that the light isnt always flashing and the screen goes dark but it does save battery life. I have noticed though i would have emails and no light flashed.

yeah I hate paying the airport fees. It drives me nuts to pay 7.00 for an hour or two worth of service.

Question. I notice that the 8800 shuts off after awhile and you press the track ball it comes back on. Does it still check for messages while in this state? i am so use to just seeing the red light...

Interesting software you have on there called Shark modem. Tested it out and works good. Nice alternative to paying for wi-fi like at an airport. Good price too.
