Blue Tooth GPS Puck Question

For those of you that have them, how well do the GPS pucks work... Positives and negatives. Reason I ask is because I have both a 8300 and 8800. I like the form of the 8800 over the 8300 and the built in GPS but I like the 8300 for the camera. I am going to sell one of them but want to cover all of my opptions before selling the one I should have kept.

Thanks.

No problem with the 8300 and Holux GPSlim240 gps puck. I like the form factor of the 8300 but you have to carry the puck for gps (I hang it off of my key chain).

Holux GPSlim 240 vs. GARMIN MOBILE 10X

I too have a recently purchased 8300 and shopping for a GPS puck - anyone out there have an opinion between the two models named above ?

And intrinsic to the question - comparison of TeleNav vs. Garmin service ?

Thanks guys !

I use the 8300 with the GPSlim 240 and have had no problems at all using Telenav. I'm in Canada and Telenav has not let me down. I enjoy the voice navigating and it supports text-to-speech for announcing the street names as opposed to "turn right in 300 meters".

I can't speak for the Garmin service because I haven't used it. I don't even know if the server is even available in Canada.

didn't google disable their gps-enabled maps for blackberries? i read that a few weeks ago. supposedly due to AT&T trying to monopolize on their own pay-for-use gps services or something.

i was about to get a gps puck but that made me not get it.

if i'm wrong, somebody please correct me.

Google released a version 1.60 that did not allow GPS with the Curve. But they now have updated to 1.61, which does work with my Curve using the Freddom Input GPS puck.

Yes, you can use it now. I actually end up using Telenav more if only because of the audio alerts - keeps me from crashing as I look at the tiny screen for directions.

Google or BB Maps won't reroute you if you get off course, Telenav will. I find the downside to any of the BB-based navigation products is that you can't be on the phone while using the navigation.
