Sending files over Bluetooth

Hello,

I seem to be having problems with sending files over bluetooth. I have paired the phone with my Powerbook but whenever I try and send a file it won't let me.

I go to send file, click the file to send, then it says validating and then says that the device does not have the necessary services.

What do you think is wrong?

Thanks,

Soran

I think I gave you the answer over in your other post, but perhaps someone here has made it work. (It's not possible).

You can sync via Bluetooth, but not tranfers files. This is against the security design of the BlackBerry.

Oh OK, I posted here because you said to try the mac forum.

Sorry - didn't come out right. This is the right place for Mac questions, but you still can't transfer files...

Thank you for your help

You can't sync with Mac either. Bluetooth sync requires Desktop Manager 4.1, Windows only.

Blackberry 8300 Ringtone File Transfer Using Bluetooth On A Mac

1. Open "Media" Application on your Blackberry 8300 Curve.

2. Select "Ring Tones".

3. Select either "All Ring Tones", "My Ring Tones" or "Preloaded Ring Tones" (I transfer all my personal Ringtones to "My Ring Tones").

4. Press the Blackberry button directly to the right of the green phone button (the button that looks like a dialpad).

5. Select "Receive Using Bluetooth" (You will see a "File Transfer - Waiting for connection" message).

6. Go to your MAC and open Bluetooth File Exchange.

7. Select "Send File".

8. Select the device you want to transfer your file to (in this case, a Blackberry 8300 Curve).

9. Click "Send".

10. Go to your Blackberry 8300 and Curve and notice a window asking you to "Please choose the location where you wish to save file"

11. Select "Save" located at the bottom left of the window.

12. SUCCESS!!!!!!

I didn't penquin. It looks like lots of people are having this issue though. i just typed up some detailed instructions on how to transfer ring tones from a MAC to a Blackberry Curve because it seems like no one knew how to do this.

Did you transfer files via usb? If you did, once you disconnect, you should see your files in the ringtone folder.

JShidlofsky 08-16-2007 02:45 PM
