Getting an empty battery icon with a red X right through it.

I have a Curve, which was in otherwise okay condition, but last night it powered off, and the screen was black with an empty battery icon and a red X right through it. Assuming my battery was drained, I charged it for SEVERAL hours but no luck. :/

The battery is new, just got it last week, and its an original too... I'm guessing it's not a battery problem, but I have no idea what's wrong. I googled for solutions, but no one has any... so far.

Could be a charger problem, however, letting a lithium battery drain below 20% too many times will damage it and cause it to fail.

How are you charging? Wall charger? USB? Try a wall charger in a different socket if possible, if you have one. Remove the battery, plug in the charger and wait for a couple minutes before putting the battery back in. Let it sit on the charger for a few hours and see what happens.

My guess is you need a new battery. If so, get one made for the device, not a cheap eBay knock off. Those don't last.

Dubdub, you could be right about the under 20% thing, although I have some form of "Phone OCD" where I always make sure it's over 50% at all times...

I'm charging it with my wall charger, I'll try your tip though! I do have another few sockets, I pray it works lol. This last time I charged it for 6 hours straight. I hope I don't need a new battery! The one thing I dislike about BlackBerry is the battery life, or lack of. My old 8900 required three battery changes in its lifetime.

Thank you :)
