You can install the OS image on your desktop and use the Desktop Manager or AppLoader to remove bundled apps, language files and such things that you don't need. There is a tool that people talk about from time to time that will allow you to be more aggressive about removing stuff. Someone else might know the name and where you can get that software.

Your profile says you have an 8330. If you have a 98xx you should update your profile, and take the time to include the OS version you're running. That sometimes make it easier to answer questions.

If the stuff you want to remove is provided by your carrier, then it is just an icon and not installed on the device or taking up any "real" amount of space. Jut hide the icon, because, if you delete it, your carrier will just push it back again.

That stuff takes up almost no space. Is there a reason you are trying so hard to remove it?

That extra 4-8k is important I guess.

It's not about the space. Clearing the logs makes the device run faster. Just like Memory Cleaning does.

Right...
Because Memory Cleaning cleans up memory :-)

The event log is a rolling fixed size buffer. IIRC 16k. There is so much activity in it that it won't take more than a few hours (or less) to fill up after you clear it.

The best way I've found to hide the carrier crap is to create a folder (I call it Useless Crap) and move it all in there. Then hide the folder. That way they stay out of the way as much as possible. Even if you Show All, you'll only have one bogus folder instead of a bunch of crap.
