Re: No AIM Client for the 9900

I installed AIM from BlackBerry's web site but I cannot login. I get the error message: "Device has been denied access by the server."

Note that I can login to this service from my 9700 using the same SIM card but not from my new 9900 I bought as an upgrade. Is this application not compatible with OS 7.0? Note that it is not available in App World for the 9900 while it is available on the store for the 9700.

Probably just hasn't been updated yet for 7.0.

Probably, which is strange because it is one of the few apps made by RIM which is normally pre-installed on all phones.

Not on OS 7 devices it's not.

Correct, it is, strangely enough... not compatible with OS7 right now. I rec'd an error message to this effect when trying to download via the usual blackberry aim d/l link.

Re: No AIM Client for the 9900

We saw this same kind of incompatibility when OS 5 was first released, and then again with OS 6. OS 7 is still too new for complete compatibility, but after a month or so they should be well on the way to ironing out these things.

The onus to make apps compatible is on the app developers themselves. With BlackBerry dropping off in market share I would't be surprised to see solving these compatibility issues take a back seat to other platforms like iOS and Android. But it will happen. You just have to be patient.

More are being added everyday. I have gone from 26 Uninstalled to 93, so some are updating their apps.
