Security Shield for 9800 Torch

I have upgraded from a Nokia 6650 Fold to a Blackberry 9800 Torch when my Nokia broke down. My provider is AT&T.

I had been using an application on the Nokia 6650 Fold called SMobile Security Shield. They had originally told me that their application works on the Blackberry, but after getting my Blackberry Torch upgrade, they then said that the 9800 Torch is too new and too proprietary and therefore their application will not work on it. When I asked further about it ( I am a programmer myself ) they said that certain options needed to be set under Options | Advanced Settings but since my 9800 did not have this, their security application could not work on the 9800. Upon further query I was told that their application will not work on any Blackberry flip or touch screen device.

Does anyone know of a good security shield like application for the torch which will block unwarranted others from trying to access my mobile device through its ports ? A good anti-virus/anti-spam in such a product would also help. I really largely use my device for phone calls and would like to shut off other access so that my device is as secure as possible. I want to also say that I thought highly of SMobile Security Shield when I had my Nokia, since they have a very good reputation and have gotten great writeups, and am looking for something that works equally as well.

I have seen a few lurking about, however they are a waste of money. The BlackBerry is one of the most secure mobile devices out there and needs no Anti-Virus software.

I am much more interested in a good firewall, which will keep others from accessing the IP ports on the device, than in Anti-Virus software per se. Does the Blackberry OS have built-in firewall protection ?

Go to Options > Security > Firewall

I could be off on my wording, my device is not next to me at the moment, but I am pretty sure thats how you get to the firewall options. If those options are not enough for what you want, I have seen a few apps lurking around with some extra firewall options as well. Just search Mobihand.com and I am sure you will get something.

Thanks, that did allow me to enable the firewall and block things. What is a PIN in terms of blocking, as in "Block Incoming Messages" with PIN being a choice.
