Red light

Ok so I purchased a curve 8520 yeterday and charged it up fully, was charing it for most of the day it came to sleep time, I turned the phone off by pressing power off In the menu, item just woke up, try to turn my BB on and I get a red light. It stays on for around 10 seconds an goes off and still nothing works, Surely it can't be the battery as I was switched off all night. Any Suggestions?
