Essec Tour2 when?

What's the rumored release date of this device any out there?

Early 2010.

Finally replaced my first tour for a new one, got it when it first came out. Over 6 months later and Sprint did the right thing and just gave me a new one. Didn't have to fight them. lol
The trackball was really a mess. This new one is solid, no complains at all. Well maybe my only one would be the wait on a reboot. Software can fix that.
After trying a 9700 and a 8520, the track pad is just better.
Will get a Tour 2.
From a wheel, to a ball, to the pad.

Steve,
Assuming you went back to your 8330 which your profile still reads Storm 2, Tour 2 would be the move for you. We agree the 8530 is marginal at best

SteveO86 11-27-2009 11:08 PM

Profile updated :)

Yea Tour2 would probably hold me over for quite a while.. Wi-Fi with and EVDO RevA .

I really can't wait.. The extra power on my BB would be awesome.

I'll be waiting impatiently.

Well I'm also holding off for the Tour2 on Sprint, still using my 8130 with a dying battery and a "hour glass" theme.

SteveO86 12-02-2009 10:03 PM

I feel your pain :)

artie 12-02-2009 10:36 PM

Thank you, I hope it gets here soon. I won't settle for anything else.

RedSoxFan 12-03-2009 09:22 AM

I'm with you artie. I have an 8330 but waiting for the Tour 2. My wife has the Tour and loves it - with the exception of the loose battery door. But, RIM will have that fixed as well as the other issues for the Tour 2.

I'm just hoping it does get here early next year because my 8330 is on it's last leg.

artie 12-03-2009 09:47 AM

RedSox, my 8130 is also on its last leg. I have to remove the battery several times a day, but I''l hold on.

I would think that the Tour would have a May 2010 launch at the earliest. It's bad publicity to replace the Tour so quickly. Think of how important and poorly received the Storm was, and they still waited a full year to come out with the Storm2. I'm a happy Tour owner, but would really love to see the Tour 2 tomorrow, because it will probably mean a OS 5 release for us unlucky Tour 4.7.1 users. We haven't even seen a beta leak in a few months.

I wouldn't be surprised if they were a bit quicker with tour 2 because releasing it will eliminate the slight confusion that there currently is for customers where you have wifi and the new trackpad on the entry-level blackberry, but not on the premium product.

Also, with tour 2 being a new product its pretty unlikely that the approval process for it would result in 5.0 arriving sooner on the tour, there would obviously be some overlap in development between all the cdma devices, but storm, tour etc. are getting a maintenance release and that would most likely be tested separately from a new hardware release.

Really can't consider the 8520 an "entry level" device at this point, right now it's currently a top contender for CDMA users, I am really considering getting it at this point (but probably won't).

I mean the 8520 has more features then the Tour, I honestly consider Wi-Fi more important then EVDO RevA., a crispier screen, and a Flash on my camera. Of course I am in Wi-Fi settings more often then actual EVDO signal so that is my reasoning for it.

Now when the Tour2 comes then we can call it an "entry level" device. (Even though we don't consider the current 83xx/89xx Curves entry level devices)

the latest rumor from sal is sometime between Dec 20 - Jan 15

Alejandro Salomon (salomondrin) on Twitter

SteveO86 12-06-2009 09:35 PM

Seems way too early but I will hope so.

artie 12-06-2009 11:08 PM

Me too.

MooseBerry 12-07-2009 04:04 AM

I've got my fingers crossed that Sal is right! I so want wifi!

seanpat05 12-10-2009 09:07 AM

I just got my blackberry tour last weekend :( maybe I should have waited to upgrade...

akosnitzky 12-13-2009 08:17 PM

I would have waited if I already had a device. My sense is the Tour 2 will be out in May to coincide with the 10 month anniversary of the Tour 1 release

jnjewlz 01-04-2010 03:39 AM

Limping along on the 8830. Soooo ready for some speed, memory and wifi.
