AT&T to Sell the 9700 for $150 less $100 MIR???

So I went to two separate AT&T corporate stores in NYC asking if they had the 9700 (basically begging them to sell it to me). Two separate sales reps (one of whom I've dealt with before and who seems to know his shit) said that they are going on sale on Sunday (they already have plenty of stock) and that the price is going to be $150 less $100 MIR for a net price of $50!!! When the first person told me I said she was crazy and had no idea what she was talking about. But after talking to the second guy, I don't know...maybe it's really going to be $50.

Not that I wasn't getting one anyway, but now it's a no brainer!!

That just doesn't sound right, but I suppose anything is possible. If right, I'll just add two new lines and then cancel them. It would be cheaper to do that after rebate versus pay full price at $490 x 2.

Unlikely, but I'd love that. Guess we'll see on Sunday at 11:00am EST.

wait...would this (speculation) be a temp sale, or what their always going to sell it for?

I work for a AT&T store. I can promise you that the phone is $299 before a $100 MIR... he either mis-quoted you, or maybe you have a corp discount.

I really want a 9700, but I wonder how many people (besides the people willing to pay full price) are going to spend that on a phone? It seems like an awful lot.

How much you wanna bet that the salespeople were confused and giving you the future pricing of the old Bold?

Wouldn't be surprised....although the guy knew I was looking for the 9700 since that's why I came in in the first place.

I will be shocked if they are actually right.

Me too. If on some off chance they were right, please post here so I can run to the AT&T store and get one too.

No shot! I called premier, and I asked my friend who's a manager at a corporate store. And he, and the premier rep said it will be $299 with a $100 rebate for the general public. Mine came to $199 flat with my corporate discount. They were deff talking about the Bold 9000.

dietcoke 11-23-2009 12:09 AM

This happened to me today. I got two Bold 9700 phones for $149.99 with a $100.00 rebate form. I was shocked in the store. I have posted the store I bought it from in my other thread. I am kicking myslef for not buying a third for full price at $299.99 with no contract!

BallHawk3 11-23-2009 03:19 AM

I've been reading this all over blogs. Att 9700 for $300 no contract. And $150 on a 2 year along with another $100 off through mail in rebate.

EricScott 11-23-2009 03:26 AM

So to all the doubters....I went to my local store in Mt. Kisco and got an 9700 for $150 less a $100 MIR...the in-store displays promoted the phone as $50....so this is the third separate store that told me this price. Plus I know of two people who went to other stores in Manhattan today and got the same deal. So it looks like it is for real.

Now I just need to handle this bad boy w/ kiddie gloves until my BSE arrives.

Yippee38 11-23-2009 04:35 AM

Is that on a new contract or what? I'm upgrading as my contract period expired a while ago. However, I'm on the second line, so the price they're giving me is crap. Basically, $299. No rebates. I'm hoping to get that $175 deal and get a mail-in with it.

BallHawk3 11-23-2009 07:25 AM

Is this only in New York or something?

ifonline 11-23-2009 11:26 AM

Yeah, it's strange. I just picked up two yesterday in metro Atlanta, but my pricing was different. One line qualified for an upgrade, so the phone rang up at $249. That was $299 list price minus $50 instant rebate. That phone qualifies for the $100 rebate, so the bottom line is $149 for that phone. The other line did not qualify for a regular upgrade, but they offered me an early upgrade option. That phone rang up for $299 list price plus a $75 early upgrade fee, so the phone rang up at $374. That phone also qualifies for the $100 rebate, so the bottom line is $274 for that phone.

I was expecting to pay $450 x 2 for a total of $900, so to walk away at $623 felt good. Of course, I get home and the first thing I see is people paying half again what I paid. Damn! Ah well...

rpolisoto 11-23-2009 04:33 PM

Confirmed: Picked one (9700) up in Jersey City for $149 w/ $100 MIR on a 2 year contract.

rafise 11-23-2009 06:03 PM

Yes I did pickup one yesterday at $300 plus tax with out a contract.
