Blackberry housing

So I want to change my blackberry to give it a gold look.

And

What do you guys think?

It was either this or the white.

The white will be cheaper and I can get it all in one package but my concern will be if the white will get dirty? So anyone who has a white BB, please speak up.

The main purpose of this thread though is, earlier, I decided to open my phone up because I would be performing the change myself.

However, I was able to get out 5 of the 6 screws. One remains though. It's rounded off and I have no idea how to get it out. Only option seems to be to break it off....

Does anyone have any advice. Not being able to take out that screw will result in me not purchasing my housing and keyboard etc.

I did not round off the screw. This is how it was when I opened it. My sister owned the phone before and she would never open it.

MY blackberry is white on white and white keyboard, I will post some pics tomorrow. Yes, it gets very dirty. I have to clean myne everyday so it looks half decent. I got teh whit eon white like 6 months ago and I loved it but maintaining it is a pain. I would say since I did the white on white ALOT of people have been popping up with white bolds. I would recommend the gold for 2 reasons: Originality and cleanliness.
Best of luck. Oh and im changing the Kepypad color from the white light to any color! Ill post soem pics to show you the transition.
Cheers

Thanks alot. That just eliminated the white out of my options.

With the gold, the trackball; should I leave it default? Or change it as well. Don't know how it will look with the default one. Seeing more yellow trackballs than gold.

Still need to get this screw out. :(

On that screw, is there a white sticker thing on it?

TTsoldier 10-05-2009 04:47 PM

Nope. I got that one out. With the screen facing down, it's the one at the top right.

miamirulz29 10-05-2009 04:49 PM

Could you by any chance post a picture of the screw?

MidnightDraven 10-05-2009 04:58 PM

esiest thing to do is get plyers, grip the hed of screw in a way that a) grips it, and b) is easy to move round
and you basically grip and unscrew.

TTsoldier 10-05-2009 08:50 PM

No pick. Sorry.

Will try your advice. Thanks.

What do you guys think about the color though?

miamirulz29 10-05-2009 10:11 PM

I personally do not like gold, I prefer white if anything, but if you are afraid of getting it dirty, try black or, not sure if it exists, but I have seen pics of an all chrome bold, now that looks the nicest imho.
Keyboard:
Chrome Electroplate Keyboard keypad for BlackBerry Bold 9000 (QWERTY) Silver color :: Blackberry :: Keypad / Keyboard :: Truesupplier - Blackberry Accessories & PDA Accessories wholesale Co.

The rest of the bold:
Chrome Electroplate Bezel + Battery Door Cover for Blackberry Bold 9000 (Silver color) :: 9000 :: Blackberry :: Housing/Faceplate :: Truesupplier - Blackberry Accessories & PDA Accessories wholesale Co.

I've decided to go with a gold.

BlackBerry BOLD 9000 Faceplate full Housing Cover Gold - eBay (item 270455146180 end time Oct-11-09 11:44:59 PDT)

I was finally able, after a lot of prying, screwing, turning, pulling bending and breaking, able to get the screw out. That hole can never take another screw. I fcked it up good. But it was the only way it would come out. :(

I stripped the phone down and put it back together. Everything went smoothly and it hold well with 5 screws. Now I just need to order.. and wait... (y)

miamirulz29 10-06-2009 11:09 PM

Lol!

Meyefull 10-07-2009 10:06 AM

LOL! Ya i had some screw problems. Currently my bold is running with only 4 screws( i had to pry out 2 of them). And i changed my kepyad color to red so when it lights up its red. Ill post pics soon im at work so no access to camera. It looks real nice. I think im going to reorder a white housing and keypad so it looks brand new again. Maybe try to sell it while BOLDS still have value before the new devices come out. Best of luck with the housing transplant. Good decision with GOld havent seen as much gold Berrys than white

TTsoldier 10-07-2009 10:11 AM

Thanks man! Will upload pics as soon as the shipment arrives :D

TTsoldier 11-27-2009 02:16 PM

So I finally got my shipment... while changing the lens, i messed up the LCD.. soo.. Looking to express ship another lcd here without the lens and slap it back on.

I'm sad. Phone works but screen shows messed up.

I'm looking for the lcd alone, without the lens. Can someone give me a link? Not seeing online. Only seeing with the lens.
