Adding users from 4.1.xx to BES 5.0

Hello all,

When I am trying to move some users from my old BES (4.1.xx) to a new BES (5.0) I get the error

“IT policy was rejected so activation has been cancelled. Clear your handheld and retry.”

What I have done is sent a default IT policy to the handheld with no restrictions at all. Removed them from old BES (4.1) added them to new BES (5.0) and thats what I got??

I have just gotten a few of us in the IT department to use as test subjects. The only I can get it to work is to wipe the handheld. I thought the BES was to override any IT policy on the handheld when activating?

Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks

If you're moving the handhelds to a new BES with a new BES database... then you MUST wipe the handhelds before activating on the new BES.

Any particular reason you chose to do the migration this way? There's far better ways to do this which wouldn't impact your end users at all.

Yes I have been looking it up and it seems like I am going to have to do it like that. (wipe handheld)

This way for done for testing only. I am in the process of getting with RIM to get the migration kit for a new SRP with 5.0.

I have a temp SRP right now. This is the issue with the IT policy being rejected.

Thanks all!!

the temp SRP is not the issue with the IT Policy being rejected.

Why not use the Enterprise Transporter to perform the migrations?

what jibi said......after that it will auto activate.

The Enterprise Transporter is a new tool created to ease (i.e. without having to wipe the devices) the move of users between 2 BlackBerry Domains (i.e. 2 different BES configuration databases). However, take note this tool is new and NOT all users data are moved.
