DST Problem - appts created on BB are 1 hr ahead in Outlook.

Mentioned this in another thread, but didn't want to highjack... So creating a new one:

I'm having an issue with 4 users:

Two 8830, 4.2.2.176 - BES1
7250, 4.1.0.268 - BES2
8700, 4.1.0.377 - BES2

I've triple checked this, all 4 users have the 2.5 version of the time zone patcher listed under applications from the properties of their BES account.

They are all on the same exchange server, which is patched with the same version cdo.dll the other exchange servers are (6.5.7654.12). No users on any other Exchange server are complaining.

They are on 2 different BES servers (as indicated). No other users on either BES are complaining.

I've had them create appointments from their devices, and I logged on to their Exchange server to check server-side, and the appointments are ahead 1 hr.

Anyone have any ideas? Perhaps the DST patch isn't working?

Thanks knotty! I should have probably given more info.

I figured out the issue for 2 users (both 8830's). That BES was (supposed to be) a test box, so the CDO.DLL was old. Good good, just didn't think to look at it this AM before I posted this thread... But the other 2 users remain a mystery.

Here's what I can tell you:

1. The BES they are on is running CDO.DLL ver 6.5.7651.61.
2. The Exchange server has CDO.DLL ver 6.5.7654.12.
3. The devices have TZ patch 2.5.

On that BES there are 100+ users. Only 2 have reported this issue. There are other users on that Exchange server who also don't have this issue.

I'm assuming it's device related, but they have the patch.

Have any more ideas besides the usual?

the 268 neeeds an update, not sure about the other one.

Mmmm. I suspected it was device related, but didn't think the OS version had anything to do with it. It's worth a shot!! Thanks knotty.

On this list, it shows his OS is supported...

Did you check their time zones? For example, Pacific is not the same as Tijuana, even though they are both -8.

From the other DST thread:

DST patch is found in KB926666.
Update for daylight saving time changes in 2007 for Exchange 2003 Service Pack 2

I am surprised the OP is only having DST issues. I am sure some users are having email reconciliation issues as well since their EMSMDB32.dll file is lower on the BES than what the version of exchange is (SP2).

This was the issue. Or rather, this MUST be the issue. I haven't done the patch yet because they don't let me reboot during the day. But after a call in to RIM, they suggested this. Only later today did I come recheck the forums and Stu pointed this out.

Also, it's worth mentioning that the CDO.DLL on the BES cannot be a lower version than on Exchange. You can have the same issue.

Patch the BES to the same level as Exchange, and it'll take care of it. I already did a test server and it fixed it.

Thanks Stu (and RIM).

And still... After all these years... I'm still learning new stuff...

That's why I spend as much time here as I can. The stuff I pick up daily which I didn't even know existed boggles me.
