No Internet, Picture Messaging on BB 8320

Hi

I really need your help.

I recently purchased a Blackberry 8320 curve Emerald off Ebay.

It was locked to the network Orange and have recently unblocked it so I can put in my O2 sim card.

Now that everything works I have found out that I don't have any picture messaging, email or any internet on the BB.

I phoned up O2 and she said that BB are always on contract and thats why I haven't got the services. I then said it was an original Orange phone and she said that even if I were to get an Orange contract it wouldn't be guranteed that I would get the picture messaging and the internet as the the services still might be on Orange.

I'm at my wits end now.

It cannot be that the amount of people that by unblocked BB off Ebay cannot have picture messaging and the internet?????

Can anyone help me with this at all?

Manny

Welcome to the forums.

Do you have a BlackBerry Data plan on your account?

No, where do I get that from?

And how much is it going to cost? :-(

That will explain why you're not able to access the browser or receive email. Your carrier will have to add that to your account. As for the cost, I am not sure. I am not familiar with O2 and their data plans. Your best bet would be to contact them and ask them about their BB Data rates, or check their website.

But would it work with my unblocked (used to be on the Orange network) Blackberry?

If the device has been unlocked and you are able to use it on another carrier, you shouldn't have an issue AFAIK.

Ok, thanks for the help so far.

I will go to my carrier O2 tomorrow and see what I can do.

Can anyone tell me why the word "edge" is in the right hand corner of my BB?

jsconyers 11-06-2008 02:20 PM

That is basically letting you know if you have data coverage or not. If it is in capital letters EDGE then you have data coverage, lowercase edge is no data coverage.
