8130 with os4.5 bricked

I don't even know why this happened. All of a sudden my screen went dark and then the BB tried to reboot, but the red light would come on, there might be a fraction of a second flick of a white screen then the led would go off, the screen remained dark and after a while the red light came on again. This cycle just kept repeating. I went to the FAQ and used the technique listed for if I can't connect with JLCmdr. I used the command prompt to get to loader.exe /nojvm. I could get it to the app loader and then it would indicate that it was removing apps and installing apps and then was supposed to restart. The red led lit and then it was just stuck in the old cycle. No actual restart took place and then the apploader program just gave up. Any suggestions or do I need to get a new phone :-(
Thanks,
Bruce:x

Have you removed the battery, and rebooted the device?

If so, keep trying JLcmder, it can take multiple tries, I have seen it take 20 tries before it worked.

Good luck.

Do I remove the battery before each try with jlcmdr? The phone just keeps trying to reboot (red led comes on) every minute. When do I activate jlcmd by typing blackberry and hitting enter...when the led is lit or when it is not? I don't know what I should do.

I just ignored the led and ran jlcmdr over and over again. Then the device tried about 15 times to re-initialize and finally I got the the white 587 screen. Then I hooked the device up to the desktop manager and tried to reinstall the OS. It's still trying to restart after the removal of app data and re-installation of the java modules. The red led lights and then there is a flicker of a white screen and then nothing. Then the red led lights again and the cycle continues. I'm going to bed and just leave it connected and hope it works in the morning.

I have an AT&T 8310 Curve, and upgraded to 4.5.0.55 last night. So far everything looks a-okay. Hope that bhw gets his device worked out soon. Good luck.

Thanks to everyone, but nothing worked. However, my Verizon dealer said there was still some time on the manufacturer warranty on the phone and swapped me a new one!
Problem solved on the practical level although on the theoretical level, we don't have the answer. Thanks again,
Bruce
