Can't send jpg, won't open wav

OK 2 problems here.
The first, many of our users have BB's with cameras, but when attempting to e-mail the picture it says "service does not support the attachment types"

The second, my residential voicemail sends a wav file of the message to my BES account. My BB shows an attachment is present, but does not give me the option to open it. On my PC the attachment is there and plays fine. If I forward the e-mail on my BB to one of my BIS accounts, then I can open the attachment and play it fine.

Attached are screenshots from my BES admin. Please review, and let me know if there is a simple solution, or if we need to call RIM.

P.S. My BES admin inherited the job and really knows very little about it

Thanks

I would get him to upgrade BES first - there should be an Audio Distiller in that list as well.

Upgrade the BES. BES 4.1.0.x does not support WAV attachments, you need SP4 at least. hdawg said that it works for him, even though wav did not show in the list. I'm not fully sure if wav is supported.

Also, it depends on how the wav file is encoded as well. WAV attachments that are sent from voicemail software do not always work as well. Even if you get WAV files working, you may not be able to open it on the BB regardless.

Just letting you know.

Well if I forward the wav file from my desktop to one of my bis accounts (all on the same BB) and I can play the file this way, why doesn't it work from my BES account? It does show an attachment in the message, I just do not see the "open attachment" option on the menu. Could there be a setting on my BB that does this?

BTW - What version should we be looking at?

Because the BES controls what you can and can't do. All that your BIS test tells you is that it's not the BB that is incapable of the playing the wav file.

4.1 SP6

4.1.6 or Service Pack 6 for 4.1

I would guess that ver 4.1.6 = ver 4.1 sp6 (therefore 4.1.5 = ver 4.1 sp5)
