Goodbye O.s 4.5.0.10 Beta
 

I finally gt tired of it. I had thought that by upgrading to this OS would be a good thing. Bt ever since i did. Its been nothing but hell. Having to many problems wt this beta version. I guess i am goin to wait for the public release like everyone else.

There has certainly been a lot of pent up anticipation over the release of 4.5. I wish RIM wouldn't even let any info out until their near to releasing the OS. They should have the resources in house to reduce public beta testing to a minimum.

Wouldnt you think, that the origin of these betas, are the test group?

RIM has not leaked these betas. They have likely been given to the carriers and the carrier employees have leaked them. They are NOT "public betas." They are meant for carrier testing only.

Wise choice, to wait for the approved release. I know we've all been waiting a while for 4.5, but downloading a beta of anything probably isn't worth the risk to you device, if not your sanity.

still solid at this end... the occasional uncaught error message, but still manageable.

4.5.0.18 has been good to me so far besides UMA issues every now and then. But with .10 I had bad memory leaks..

I tried .18 but it kept rebooting my curve just like .10. Went back to 4.2. It would have been nice to use some of those new features. oh well...

Constant reboots are usually caused by the media card. Remove the media card and see if the reboots continue.

I've been running 4.5.0.10 on my 8320 for several weeks now. Yes, there are some bugs, but overall it's been very stable and performs well. The memory leak doesn't seem significantly worse than it was on 4.2, although Opera Mini may be more of a hog--but I'm not sure about that. JiveTalk works fine. In fact, the most conspicuous bug I've noticed is in the Media Manager. I have trouble deleting video clips sometimes, although if I select the "explore" process there's no problem (It's actually not clear to me why there are two overlapping ways of browsing media files). But if I delete them in"explore" the titles still show up in the regular media manager window. If I try to play one, it plays the previous actual video that's present. And after a few file operations, when I enter the Media Manager I see a "scanning" message at the bottom that just stays there. So that's definitely a bug. I've had no rebooting or other weirdness. My 3rd-party apps are Google maps, JiveTalk, Rove File Manager, vNotes voice recorder (I use it because it can make WAV files and if I email an audio message, a lot of people don't like AMR files because they need Real Player, which many people detest), BBweather, Unyverse, Handmark Blackjack. They all work. After following the "optimize" steps with OS 4.5, I have about 25 MB free memory after a reboot, which drops down to under 20 in a couple of days, depending on what I do.

I almost never use BBmessenger, so I haven't experimented with it.

So far, I'm not seeing anything annoying enough to make me downgrade back to 4.2.

not sure why every person needs to start threads like this. Who cares if you downgrade..upgrade.. etc. what a waste.

I am glad you are having success. I will wait until its officially released and the glitches are worked out.

I LOVE 4.5 its great.. with video recording the phone is complete not much more you can really ask!! IPHONE KILLER IN MY Opinion haha

I like to be up to date with current versions, what gets me are the folks who seek out the latest beta and then complain about it when they find it. Pity the poor RIM folks that do their best and then find out everyone's b****-ing about their product :cry:

ArmyGeorge, to be honest, I think it's a good idea to let people talk about what issues they are having. I'm sure there are RIM folks browsing these forums and can be informed of what problems are arising. I honestly believe it takes such a long time for an OS release because not every handset is going to respond the same way. This is why the public release is, in most cases, a positive experience. It addresses issues that people report in these and other forums. A lot of people are reporting successes with 4.5 and then there are those that aren't. Just keep that in mind before you start lashing out unnecessarily.

The point of not releasing the beta isn't so that you limit the number of users testing it, it's so that you actually have proper feedback. If every moron installs it then there's no way to verify with them if the bugs they experience are the result of actual issues, or just the user being stupid.

When betas are run it is a two way street: the developers can communicate with the bug reporters and vice versa. In the case of this leak, anything "bugs" posted on public boards are of little use to the developers.
