address book issue
so i installed blackberry desktop manager that came with my 9700. great.
go to sync and about 400 of my 1200 contacts are messed up. in my address book i have some numbers listed as 'main'. none of which pop up when I do a sync. I've tried exporting my entire address book, opening up in notepad and replacing all instances of 'main' with 'work', but i lost ALL the notes I had on hundreds of contacts.. is there any solution to this? is there another software besides the garbage desktop manager I should be using to sync properly? any help is much appreciated! |
Re: address book issue
Can you do the selective restore of only the contacts from your backup file?

basically, i dont want to spend hours going through all 1200+ of my contacts having to make sure the number isn't listed as a 'main'. that'll take forever... i've tried googling to see how i can mass change the number type category, but haven't found anything. really stupid that blackberry's stuff can't support something so damn simple! |

anyone?

Re: address book issue
The answer is relatively simple. The question is, how did you get addresses in your Blackberry as "main" in the first place? That's not a standard field. Did you use a user defined field? If so, you need to map that field through the Blackberry desktop app before you sync.

Re: address book issue
my address book already had the fields set to 'main'. It's the blackberry that can't register main as a category to sync them properly to my phone.
so this mapping, i can essentially set desktop manager to register all entries as main as say the 'work' category that picks up properly? thanks! |
