What's up with pinstack?

I know there's been rants about pinstack here before, so I'm adding another to the pile.

<backstory>
Now as many of you know I recently opened BBeXtras.com to sell themes that are more intricate than those produced by default in theme builder. I still use theme builder but with an addition. Naturally this has created various interest on many BB sites including pinstack.

Now at first there was one topic which was various users discussing the themes and their opinions. Somewhere through that one user suggested that I as just selling themes that were going to be released from RIM soon. I laughed and dismissed it.

A few more topics appeared and again the same user weighed in, essentially telling anyone who was interested in my business not to buy anything because it is all just RIM made work for sale (nevermind the fact that I'd be out of a job and facing legal problems were this the case). So I began to pay a little more attention, and noticed that this individual was a moderator. Still I said nothing

Finally another thread in which this mod stated that not only was I selling RIM software, but that I as using a beta of Theme Builder to do so and that I was a waste of money. This got me typing. I laid out my case in a lengthy (but in no way rude) post - asking the obvious wouldn't I be fired? wouldn't I have legal issues? questions - and offering that anyone who wanted to check the cod files they'd bought could see that thy were made in TB 4.2.2.

A short time later my post disappeared, with no explanation. So I posted asking if this was how this mod dealt with challenges to them, rather than providing proof.

That got someone's attention, as I was quickly issued a warning for "insulting other members" (which at NO point did I do, though I was mistaken about who removed it) with this comment

...it wasn't deleted, just temporarily unapproved while your claims are discussed with the staff. Please do not keep posting about this.
To date it has not been "approved" after over 12 hours. And I have no way to PM anyone about it, since I don't have 10 posts there.

<rant>
So honestly, is pinstack this ridiculous? They need to "approve" a post from someone defending their business against one of their own mods who seems intent on spreading lies about it? Has anyone else experienced insane warnings like this?

Yes, they are that ridiculous. They don't need to approve any posts at all, that is there way for them to remove it and not have to deal with explaining their reasons.

If I were you, I would just avoid Pinstack like the plague that they are.

pinstack rocks. that is all :)

I've had an account there for over a year, and is was the first time I'd posted with it. I never would have if they didn't have a mod who was spreading lies about my business.

Who is this Moderator you speak of?

Perfect Storm 11-18-2007 05:07 PM

Shouldn't take much to figure it out:

Best themes for 8300 - PinStack.com
L Dimension theme question - PinStack.com
Found today plus theme for my curve!!! $10 though - PinStack.com
Show Off Your Curve's Wallpaper/Theme - Page 28 - PinStack.com
Calling all Plazmic Theme Builder Software Developers - PinStack.com

The last would be the one where my response is supposedly hidden

Pinstack is a great site!
Censorship is bs, that is a mod with a chump on his shoulder. Why not say the jerks name, instead of insulting a GREATsite?

Perfect Storm 11-19-2007 06:56 AM

The fact that the rest of the site's mod team is standing by the decision implies that they agree with it. As far as I'm concerned they represent the site.

Because thats the way that site is run. Dont get all defensive here anyone who has been around a while knows whats going on.

Most of the staff there act the same way. Some used to be great guys and hung out here and there but they have been brain washed now and probably arent allowed to visit anywhere.

The above is my opinion only not the opinion of BB forums

I don't like to get involved in this stuff, but it doesn't really matter what forum you go to on the web. They are not a democracy and there is no freedom of speech.

Perfect Storm 11-19-2007 10:58 AM

Honestly (not too sound like I'm sucking up) this is one of the best ones around. Even if something is completely offkey, it usually stays visible and most of the mods are not jerks

NJBlackBerry 11-19-2007 11:13 AM

Most? :-)

JSanders 11-19-2007 11:26 AM

Present company excepted? lol

My paranoia is setting in again....

Spamdumpster 11-19-2007 11:33 AM

It's funny -- even if what she says is true, what's her point? Will people pay money to get something -- in this case a theme -- before it's available for free? Of course they will. Is anyone being forced to buy it? No. Should she STFU? Yes.

Plus, deleting posts is bush-league crap.

For ONE day you don't get to wear the crown.

juwaack68 11-19-2007 11:51 AM

Um, HELLO? It's not a crown, it's a tiara.
