Is BBM Required to join voice call using BBM Meetings

I realize the host has to have BBM Meetings. But must all attendees also have BBM installed in order to join a conference call? I assume they would have to have BBM in order to see shared screens also. But is it necessary just to join the audio portion?

works with a PC, or can do a phone call only too
