My thoughts:

Instead of a sexual byproduct we are dealing with the (hopefully) solid byproduct of human digestion.

I am admittedly surprised by his showing in Iowa.

Re: Santorum?

He worked hard. He had a message that resonated with at least 25% of the voters.

Look at it this way, 75% voted against Mitt Romney. Santorum was the beneficiary of 25% of that anti-Romney vote.

What remains to be seen is that who is going to pick up the slack since Bachman and Perry (for all practical purposes) have dropped out. After NH there will probably be just 3 left plus one unelectable, egotistical Congressman.

I think Romney's nomination is inevitable.

The conservative Christian vote finally got behind somebody. At the last minute.

I think you are right. But the smartest men in the fight are Newt and Huntsman. IMHO, they both have a much better view of the world than Romney right now.

I still say we will most likely have a GOP President and a Democratic controlled House and Senate. The House Republicans have shot themselves in the foot and been backed into a corner by the minority Tea Party. Bothe the Speaker and Majority Leader are asses and refuse to see and hear what the people really want. They need to think of country first, not their own little fiefdom.

Not sure about Newt. I think he's damaged goods. With an ego that is a wee bit large. I do like Huntsman though. Smart guy.

Re: Santorum?

Damaged goods maybe, but let he who is clean cast the first stone. They all have issues, no one is squeakee clean.

By being Speaker of the House and dealing with Democrats in a bipartisan fashion, Newt knows what he is up against. He is very smart. He is up on the issues and has a plan. Newt's problem is that at times, he is too honest and other times shoots from the hip without thinking.

All the candidates are saying how they will cut trillions and repeal this law or that law or fix the economy. All it is is words that people want to hear. What isn't being said is how are you going to deal with a hostile Congress, especially is it is controlled by the other party? No one has asked that question, but I plan to at every event I attend. It is a monumental question and one that they refuse to discuss. My guess is they have no clue, other than Newt, about what to do.

Eh, I thought Newt left the House due to major ethics and/or criminal issues. What did he do; go down to the Virgin Islands and get recycled?

Re: Santorum?

Charges were not proven and he paid a 300K fine for something.

Doesn't make him any less smart or qualified in my eyes. The Democrats and media were out to get him because he reduced spending on some of their favorite programs.

Re: Santorum?

I simply hope that whoever is nominated -- and whoever is elected -- both in the Executive and Legislative branches, will start to think about the good of the country and solving the many significant issues that we as a nation are facing. All of these $%&^#@%! idiots -- on both sides of the aisle -- are spending way too much time pandering to their extremist bases as opposed to working to solve the issues at hand.

Re: Santorum?

Very well said, djm! It is almost as if they are afraid to compromise as they think they will be looked at as crossing party lines. Everyone one of them, on both sides of the aisle, stick so close to their party lines, that nothing is getting done. We need compromise, we need them to work together. This country is supposed to be by the people, for the people. But that's not what we're getting. One of the main issues is all the money in politics from big businesses. As long as that remains there, I am afraid nothing is going to change anytime soon. Why would politicians care what their constituents want when they have big businesses pushing big money at them to get their agenda across? I know not all politicians are corrupt like this, but I bet they're in the minority.

I propose that politicians that get caught taking bribes get charged with prostitution. Think about it.

Did you see that Pat Robinson said that God told him he would be elected in 2012 as president? Considering all the false prophecy this clown has given out I wonder what part of hell he will go to.

Too little to late I think. Put a dent in Romney's ride, but I don't think it stopped him, unfortunately.
