Slow 3G speeds
 

Hi all
I've had my bb for about a month and overall I'm happy with the device. The problem is with my 3G download speed. For the first 2 weeks I've been downloading at about 100kb/s but recently I haven't been able get faster that 18kb/s. I've double checked and tripple checked that I'm in a area with 3G reception. I don't think I'm the only person with this problem, or at least I hope not. I'm in South Africa and I am on the MTN network. Any help would be much appreciated.

Have you called your carrier to see if there are tower problems in your area?

Have you tried a battery pull to see if that fixes it?

I've done a battery pull and I've wiped my device but nothing. I think I'll have to give my carrier a call then. Thanx 4 the input

Shoo thort it ws only me...I've got the exact same prob..it will start 27-45kbs and then jst drop till 18 for the most.. at times my edge matches my 3g speed if not more I've been callin 808 1555 the 1212 number but nothing to me my fone is useless now coz it is soooper slow..

I went to my network provider and the best they could give me is a phone repair and I'm not prepared to lose my phone 4 a couple of weeks. It's frustrating because then I might as well have gotten a curve. I'm going to try my network provider at another branch. I also want to try other 3g blackberrys. If its only the 9780 then that's 2 problems I've picked up after having the thing for a month because I'm getting double and tripple letters being typed aswell. The phone itself is great but not the problems that come with it.

Ok so I think I may have found a reason why its so slow. Apparently blackberry has a shaped data network which slows down your data transfer speed after 2 gigs. So hopefully after the next bis activation the speed will be restored. I'm not sure if my info is correct but I'm hoping.

The only problem I'm having is jst the download speed and sometimes when I'm browsing my cursor dissapears...so after the activation of your BIS..ur download speed went back to normal?

My speed is back to normal again :) & my bis activation is only for the 20th..was probley a problem with the network it self

I'm on contract so I'm not sure when my bis is reactivated. I'm just gonna assume it was a temporary network problem

I've also been getting ann occasional missing cursor while I'm browsing but I updated my os to 6.0.0.600 so I'm hoping that fixed the problem

I have the same problem with an extremely slow 3g on my 9300 using vodacom. I am an avid downloader so not sure if I have reached a cap and the network has no idea of what the problem is. I n the past 4days went from 100kbps to 4.5kbps which cuts off the download eventually. Please help I am so frustrated!

My bb 9300 has been extremely slow on Vodacom network with the download speed slumping from 100 kbps to 4.5kbps and network is yet to find a solution. Perhaps I have reached a cap or the network is yet to be rectified. I am an avid downloader and this is frustrating! Please help..
